Early morning magic with Bec Schofield and Dave Mann of The Nomadics

Living Life Differently is one of my ongoing photographic themes. Dave Mann and Bec Schofield, who perform as The Nomadics, are doing just that.

During our six-month long meander around WA last year, we crossed paths with The Nomadics a few times, from Exmouth to Broome and up to the tip of Cape Leveque.

Along with their three young children, Dave and Bec are house-truck (and now sailing boat) nomads. The redder the dirt, and the further they are from traffic lights, the more at home they are and this inspires their music.

Unfortunately the opportunity to photograph them when we met on the road never happened. I was delighted then, when Bec contacted me to see if we could do a photo shoot together when they were in Denmark recently. A couple of days after they supported the Waifs in Albany, we had an early morning start, photographing in the heavy mist before the sun suddenly broke through.

Do check out their website and Insta (#thenomadicsmob) feed for music and videos.

And if you would like to enjoy the magic of this beautiful location, book yourself a few days R&R at The Cove. Thank you to Susan and Ilya for sharing their piece of paradise with us.
