A bungarra, also known as a racehorse goanna, spotted at Walga Rock in the Goldfields

Realising we were heading south into Western Australia’s wildflower season was fantastic! Add abundant birdlife and the odd bungarra (aka racehorse goanna) into the mix and I was in heaven :-)

My favourite was the resident bowerbird near our camp at Nallan Station near Cue. The male builds his elaborate nest (called a bower) to attract a mate, and then spends hours decorating his mansion with found stuff, and constantly rearranging it all.
