Lake Grace artists
The town centre of Lake Grace has a little supermarket, a clothes shop, a cafe, a hotel, lots (and lots) of farm-related businesses and the Lake Grace Regional Art Space which creatives in any town would love to have. This week the artists are busy installing their latest exhibition, part of The Alternative Archive series currently happening around WA. This particular exhibition, “The Only Hospital for Miles”, will share visual stories from the Australian Inland Mission Hospital Museum which is in Lake Grace. Opening this Friday, 5th April at 6pm, it runs until 26 April, 10am-4pm daily.
Nine years ago, 10 artists from Denmark (me included) spent a week in Lake Grace, camping just out of town and based at the Art Space during the day. Kerrie, Tania and Michele were an important part of that time and strong connections and friendships were formed…so it was just lovely to catch up with them again this week both in their studios and at the Art Space in town.
Both Kerrie and Tania are veteran exhibitors of Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe WA, Bondi NSW and Denmark (the one in Europe not south coast WA!)
The Alternative Archive exhibition series is supported by the State Government of WA and Country Arts WA through the Regional Arts Partnership Program and the Australian Government through the Regional Arts Fund, GalleriesWest, John Curtin Gallery, Cockatoo Co-Lab and Southern Forest Arts.
