Our purposeful meander

The different lives we lead - a purposeful meander through WA

At last! We’re almost ready to hitch up our camper and set off on an adventure through Western Australia, from small country towns of the wheatbelt and goldfields and up into station country in the north. A meandering road trip with no set route and no set time frame.

If you’re familiar with my work, you’ll know my passion is storytelling through photographs; taking portraits of people, the places they live in, and documenting the different lives we all lead.

With that in mind, I’d love to do some ‘Day in the-life’ sessions. Musterers or shearers? The volunteers at the local op shop? The truckie’s weekly delivery? Artists, craftspeople or tradies? Whoever and whatever makes up life in the communities along the way…

Luckily for me, photography opens doors to all sorts of interesting people, places and situations. Our calendar is gradually filling up with dates of local rodeos, small music festivals and other community events which always offer great photo ops.

So tell me…Is there a particular little WA town or enormous pastoral lease we should try to get to? An event not to be missed? Or a fantastic character we should try to meet? I’m always happy to share photos with those who let me loose with my camera! A win-win :-)

Equally do you know of anyone who may need photos for their websites, social media etc? Whether they’re setting up a station stay or have a small home-based business in a remote area I can create their very own unique ‘stock library’ of images. Perhaps  a family may be interested in having a photo session on their own property (without having to pay travel expenses for a professional photographer to get there); if so, please let me know.

So if you’ve got some ideas and suggestions we’d love to hear from you. And do please spread the word among your friends and contacts, as we set off on what promises to be a fab few months

PS. My husband Steve creates images too, but in a different way. He is a contract surveyor, GIS specialist and certified drone operator. As well as being able to do aerial photography and videography, he makes true to scale maps utilising ortho-rectified photography and satellite imagery. This techie-talk makes my eyes glaze over but he does a great job and his skills might come in handy for you!
